How Swiff It uses cookies and similar technologies
We keep it simple: essential cookies only, no tracking, no ads. Here's exactly what we set and why.
Effective date: April 4, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Swiff It (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit or use our website and services at swiff.it (the “Service”). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, improve efficiency, and provide information to site owners.
Cookies can be “session” cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (remain until they expire or you delete them). We also use similar technologies such as localStorage, which stores small amounts of data in your browser to remember your preferences.
2. Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function. Without them, you would not be able to log in or use core features. They cannot be disabled.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Authenticates your session and keeps you logged in across pages and visits. | 1 year | Supabase Auth |
| sb-*-auth-token-code-verifier | Used during OAuth login (e.g., Google) to securely complete the authentication handshake (PKCE flow). | Session | Supabase Auth |
3. Preference Cookies
These store your choices so the Service works the way you prefer. They do not track you or leave our domain.
| Storage Key | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| theme | Remembers your light/dark mode preference. | Persistent | localStorage |
| swiffit_cookie_consent | Records whether you have accepted or declined optional cookies via the consent banner. | Persistent | localStorage |
| swiffit_pending_download | Temporarily flags that a resume download should start after you complete sign-up. | Session | sessionStorage |
4. Analytics Cookies
We may use privacy-focused analytics to understand how the Service is used in aggregate (e.g., which pages are most popular). If enabled, analytics cookies are only set after you give explicit consent via the cookie banner.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| ph_* | Anonymous usage analytics. Identifies unique visitors without collecting personal information. Only active if you accept cookies. | 1 year | PostHog |
If you decline cookies via the banner, no analytics cookies are set and no usage data is collected. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social media trackers of any kind.
5. Third-Party Services
Some cookies are set by services we rely on to operate the platform. These are limited to what is strictly necessary:
- Supabase — Authentication and session management. Sets the auth token cookies listed in Section 2.
- Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe may set cookies on its own domain (stripe.com) during checkout to prevent fraud and process payments. We have no access to those cookies. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Google OAuth — If you sign in with Google, Google sets cookies on its own domain during the login flow. We do not control those cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- PostHog — Privacy-focused analytics, only active with your consent. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell data to, or share data with, any advertising networks, data brokers, or social media platforms.
6. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies in several ways:
- Cookie banner: When you first visit the Service, a banner lets you accept or decline optional cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage and revisiting the site.
- Browser settings: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging in to the Service.
- Private browsing: Using incognito or private mode will discard all cookies and localStorage when you close the window.
For detailed instructions on managing cookies in your browser, visit allaboutcookies.org.
7. Your Consent
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive, we obtain your consent before setting any non-essential cookies. Essential cookies do not require consent because the Service cannot function without them.
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to know what data is collected and to request its deletion. We do not sell your personal information, and our cookie usage does not constitute a “sale” under the CCPA. For more on your rights, see our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
